David Coburn

Mr. Coburn began creating art in his bathtub at the age of 2, drawing with soap on the walls. A professional actor and a seasoned musician, Coburn began studying art formally in the UCLA Theatre Department, and then later at NYC’s Spring Studio under the tutelage of anatomical guru Minerva Durham. David has studied all over the world, and some of his other teachers include Mel Stabin, David Taylor, Judy Betts, Skip Lawrence, to name but a few.

Coburn moved to France to pursue his art full time in 2007. Having landed in the countryside just one hour from Paris, Coburn won numerous local painting competitions and grew a loyal local collectors base. Now “en ville” since 2012, Coburn practices life study regularly at La Grande Chaumiere, the legendary atelier to Picasso, Giacometti, and countless others. Coburn’s first Paris exposition is scheduled for the 2nd week in May 2019 at the historic Atelier Gustave in Paris’ 14th arrondissement.
