WORKSHOPS
2020:
Sunday, September 27th 2020 - 10AM-4PM: One day workshop in and around Parc Montsourri - 65 euros/person
Workshops range from 1 day excursions to intense 3-4 days of inspiration, satisfying work and productive learning with David Coburn.
Coburn begins every workshop with a theoretical introduction followed by a simple “one go” demonstration focusing on bold composition and high contrast, with an understanding of the basic elements of design. Through this demo, painters will learn how to make quick decisions, eliminate unnecessary detail, and simplify their subject into it’s large shapes in order to achieve the most impact. Discussions cover color theory, tonal range, form, shapes, visual vocabulary, and lost and found edges. After the demo, painters will have free time to work while David assists their works in progress. An apero/crtique on the work of the day finishes off the afternoon before rest time, and a gourmet dinner. On day 2, David will do a second demo, focused on an additional learning point, and continue to guide participants through their own works in progress. Apero/Critique/Dinner to follow.
On day 3 of the workshop, another demo, more assisted painting, and then, a final critique session in which every participant shows their best work ever produced. The critique/commentary ensures that painters return home not only realizing how much they have learned, and with a clear understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of their paintings, but they’ll also feel proud of their achievement, and eager to share their art with others.

*3/4-Day Workshop Package includes: Tuition for 3/4 full class days, 4 nights of dinner, lodging, breakfast, daily apero, cookie and fruit breaks, unlimited coffee and tea, and welcoming wine and cheese reception. Your choice between a room to yourself (single occupancy) or find a buddy and split a room (double occupancy).
